Kate Stephens BSc (Hons) MSc MCSP ACPAT(A) is a chartered physiotherapist specialising in veterinary physiotherapy who occasionally provides cover for On Track Physio. She graduated as a physiotherapist from the University of Southampton in 2003 and having always dreamed of working with animals and in particular horses, she embarked on her education in veterinary physiotherapy at the Royal Veterinary College in 2009, later qualifying as a Category ‘A’ Member of ACPAT in 2011 with an MSc with merit.
Kate has always been passionate about Thoroughbred racehorses, having grown up around them, with her father training and racing point-to-pointers. She has ridden all her life, competing in all spheres throughout her childhood and early adult life. Until recently Kate held a long-term clinical specialist position as lead physiotherapist for the Paediatric Orthopaedic Team at Addenbrookes’ Hospital which she relinquished to concentrate on her private veterinary work through Complete Performance Physiotherapy. She continues to see paediatric patients privately however, alongside her work with horses. Career highlights so far have been working with champion fillies, The Fugue, Taghrooda and Rizeena. Regarding work outside of horse racing, Kate Stephens can be contacted directly through her business that specialises in physiotherapy for sport and leisure horses, and riders.
